Our Water, Our Fight!

Why Nongfu Spring Threatens Nashua’s Water

An unaccountable foreign company risks our health and resources.

Nongfu Spring, China’s largest beverage company, purchased a 23-acre property in Nashua for $67 million—four times its assessed value. Located near the Pennichuck water system and Merrimack River, this plant could access our water, threatening a resource already burdened by PFAS contamination (16 ppt, above CDC safe levels).

Local residents should worry about millions of gallons being taken daily, impacting Nashua’s 90,000 plus residents and downstream communities.

As a foreign company, Nongfu Spring faces limited local oversight, making it nearly impossible to enforce strict environmental standards. Nashua’s history of sewage spills and PFAS pollution shows we can’t risk further contamination, especially in environmental justice areas like East Hollis.

The purchase’s secrecy—unknown to most residents for months—raises questions about transparency and intent. Why pay so much for a site near critical infrastructure?

We demand Nongfu Spring’s removal to protect our water, health, and local control.
